University hospital

I give a one star. That goes to the few staff that provide compassionate care without bias to your situation.Too many negative, neglectful situations over the years to share.One I will. 65 yr old dad in Palliative Care. Esophageal cancer. I helped him to the bathroom. Watched over him. Dad became very weak and I cradled him under his arms and pulled the bathroom bell. After 15 minutes, after I seated him back onto the toilet, I was able to walk him back to his bed. I went to the nurses station. Only to find 5 of them laughing. I asked,did you not hear the bell!?" " I want to see your charge nurse".Spoke to charge nurse. She wasn't impressed with her staff.Dad died 2 days later. Too busy my a@@. Time to laugh n chat

Got my appendix removed here. Service at this hospital is a joke.Nurses and docs are great, however management is garbage.Two suited guys like corporates came the next morning saying we are ready to discharge you. Barely stayed 9 hrs after surgery and they wanted me to leave to free a bed. Garbage

The worst emergency room experience I have ever had. BF has been sitting in pain for 6 hours now waiting for stitches and a tetanus shot. Talked to a guy that has been waiting here for over 12 hours. Do not go to this hospital if you can help it.

I was just there last night for severe back pain. ( June 16) The wait in the Emergency was reasonable, and went faster than what it estimated on the board. The doctors that I had were very personable and understanding to my needs. And I did not feel rushed at all. After my test results I was greeted by a nurse in ER by the name of Monica. She helped me in the washroom to avoid falling. And when I told her I was hungry she helped me get some sandwiches and water. The staff was extremely personable and caring every step of the way. It really stood out to me, in comparison to other hospitals. Great discovery/experience for me , since I just recently moved to the area and that's my local hospital now. Thank you St. Mike's

The nurses, CNAs, & doctors in the neurology wing - 6 Bond are fantastic. I can’t remember all of my nurses names but they were so kind and encouraging during a really scary time for me.It was my second time dealing with St Michael’s hospital, but first time as an inpatient. The PLEX team went above and beyond for me both times and I truly couldn’t thank them enough. They are absolute angels and I am so thankful for them. Thank you St Mikes for helping me ❤️

The care of the staff was very good. However, surgery was delayed due to instruments not properly being sterilized. Dr. had to walk over to CHEO to get the instruments. Good response in recovery room when I called to check on my daughter’s recovery after surgery. The hospital hallways are cluttered with linen shelves, chairs, stretchers, etc. Someone needs to go through and reorganize their space. Paint is chipping off of doors and walls and the rooms need a deep cleaning.

I am over the moon with all the care the staff demonstrated toward me last Saturday. My French is very basic and everyone made sure I was understood and understand. As any other hospital, I waited for hours on the E.R. but had a nurse helping me out when my pain increased. I had done all the exams and resources I needed and I am grateful for that. Thank you all for your hard work.

I went to the AACU on Sunday and the experience was beyond my expectations. From the cleanliness of the place to the way I was treated. The staff were so wonderful and caring, I just can't say enough about it. My nurses were Elsie and Megan and the doctor was Dr Amanda Chen. I have never seen more caring professionals. Thank you one and all.

Notre mère a été hospitalisée à l'Unité P1 après être tombée dans sa chambre à la résidence en essayant d'enfiler ses bas. L'Unité P1 fut un cauchemar, voici pourquoi : 1) les infirmières ont donné ses prothèses dentaires à une autre patiente ; 2) un chandail flambant neuf de qualité supérieure a été volé ; 3) on lui mettait des couches culottes format pour hommes qui tombaient sur ses genoux, une préposée nous a même dit de changer nous-mêmes la couche ; 4) ses vêtements traînaient dans un sac de plastique au fond de la garde-robe, alors nous lavions les vêtements à la maison ; 5) on a trouvé une couche culotte souillée dans le tiroir des sous-vêtements propres ; 6) maman a été laissée plusieurs fois seule dans sa chaise - sans souper - plusieurs fois ; 7) nous avons apporté une couverture de laine, on lui mettait ses chaussettes car elle avait froid ; 8) à la suite de ma plainte, j'ai rencontré l'équipe de l'Unité P1. Pour m'humilier, le médecin, Dr Paradis, a tourné sa chaise - dossier vers moi - pour ne pas me voir et m'a demandé si j'avais un diplôme universitaire. En réponse à mes questions, la chef d'Unité Diane Lacasse m'a répondu d'un ton cassant que l'hôpital n'était pas une résidence. Les intervenantes sociales ont été à l'écoute.Les faits ci-dessus sont véridiques et s'ajoutent aux histoires d'horreur vécues par d'autres citoyens. Après nos visites dans cet hôpital, nous sortions souvent en sanglots.J'ai écrit au bureau de la p.d.g. du CHU de Québec-Université Laval, Mme Gertrude Bourdon , mais que peut-elle faire dans un système de santé paralysé par la bureaucratie et la gestion déficiente des cadres dans les hôpitaux de Québec. Compte tenu des faits qui précèdent, le journaliste Denis Lessard (voir La Presse du 18 août 2018) exagère lorsqu'ils fait l'éloge de la présidente-directrice générale, Mme Bourdon qui pourrait devenir ministre de la Santé de la CAQ.

Terrible hospital that is filthy and runs out of linens. Burned out lights, dead flies on window sills, misdiagnosis. Will wake you up hours earlier than supposed to after a surgery because the nurses can't or won't read charts and get patients mixed up. This is unbelievable but 100% factual.Nurses up on care floors seem to be great. But I would die on the way to North bays hospital before stepping foot into that ER. Most nurses in the ER are rude and even downright cruel. Shouldn't be allowed near any human let alone the sick and vulnerable And the doctors are beyond arrogant and don't actually want to help. They seem bothered by any and all patients. To the point where the first question out of a family physician after their patient has spent time in the hospital is and how did they treat you?" Quickly followed by "I'm so sorry you were treated like that. That's wrong."No aftercare ordered let alone any actual care provided while there. This hospital is an absolute disgrace."
